The MAI Family
Mr Mai is the Executive Director and President of China International Marine Containers (Group) Ltd. (CIMC). He graduated from the Mechanical Engineering major of South China University of Technology.
Mr Mai has been working with CIMC since 1982, rising from Technician, Manager and Deputy General Manager of Production Technology Department to President of the Company in 1992 to Executive Director of the Company in March 1994.
Michael is the Managing Director of MAI Capital and Managing Director at ICD Property (ICD). ICD is an Australian property development business founded by Michael in 2009.
As of 2016 ICD is responsible for managing AU$1.2 billion in assets. Michael has highly respected expertise in company and team building and a track record of creating highly successful JV partnerships with leading institutional companies from China.
Michael brings strong knowledge and expertise in corporate finance, JV structuring, Asia strategy and business development.

The MAI Capital team
Deputy Managing Director
Steve leads the MAI Capital team across all facets of the business. He oversees the firm’s venture capital transactions, asset portfolio and key relationships with Chinese institutional investors.
Prior to joining MAI Capital, Steve spent 5 years at ICD Property following his roles at ANZ and KPMG. During his tenure at ICD, Steve led the investments team across capital raising, property finance and execution of several major deals with the company’s largest capital partners.
Steve embraces the ongoing challenge of seeking value from differing client perspectives and understanding what motivates them, which he believes is where real value is created and win-win partnerships are established.
Steve has a background in commerce and holds Masters of Finance with First Class Honours from the University of Melbourne.
Luke holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance and Marketing) from the University of Melbourne and since graduating, has worked almost exclusively with high growth companies at both the start-up and expansion stage.
He has worked directly with some of Australia’s most formidable entrepreneurs across a range of industries and has a unique ability to maximise the output of highly driven business leaders.
Luke saw an opportunity to bring these skills to MAI Capital, where he can work with more Australian businesses as they expand operations into China.
Jason brings a combination of investment, risk management and transaction execution capability to his role as investment manager of operations at MAI Capital. His industry expertise spans previous roles at Citigroup, Infosys, ICD Property and several high growth firms in U.S. and Canada.
Across the firm’s investment operations, Jason is proactive in providing leadership in areas of due diligence, financial modelling and joint venture deal structuring.
Jason holds an MBA from Melbourne Business School and Bachelor of Applied Sciences from the University of Waterloo. He is a CAIA Charterholder and CFA Level III Candidate, and is also an affiliate member of the Global Association of Risk Professionals.
Joanna focuses on leveraging data driven insights and background research to build successful corporate strategies. She is passionate about helping both up and coming as well as established Australian success stories elevate their growth into the China mega market.
Prior to joining MAI Capital, Joanna has worked in both business development and global acquisitions across US, Europe and Sino Pacific. She is a native speaker in Mandarin with professional working proficiency in Cantonese.
While holding a Master of Entrepreneurship degree from the University of Melbourne and as an ex-medical professional, she has founded her own healthcare startup.
Office Manager / Operations Coordinator
Amanda is a well-travelled extrovert with a passion for bringing ideas to fruition. With a former background in management consulting she brings a unique perspective to her role as Office Manager and Operations Coordinator.
Her role allows her to encourage a positive workplace culture that instils a healthy work life balance with a resilient foundation of project management.
Amanda has a Bachelor of Science in Logistics Management, with minors in Anthropology, Economics, and Spanish from The Ohio State University.
